Following publication of the ‘Burgess group’ report on proposals for national arrangements for the use of academic credit in higher education in England, a Credit Issues Development Group (CIDG) was established to carry out the detailed work refining the arrangements for a national credit framework for higher education in England and to develop guidance to accompany its implementation.
The CIDG has undertaken a significant amount of detailed work to refine the arrangements for a national credit framework for higher education in England and developed draft guidance. At this stage CIDG would like to invite all higher education providers and stakeholders to, if they wish, comment on the draft guidance. There is of course no obligation on you to respond, but any comments you provide will be taken into account when the final version is prepared.
The CIDG comprises QAA, Universities UK, GuildHE, the Higher Education Funding Council for England, and other relevant practitioners and representatives.

From April to June 2008, QAA will be consulting with higher education providers and stakeholders on a draft second edition of The framework for higher education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ). While we are seeking views on these two documents separately, colleagues may wish to also consider the draft second edition of the FHEQ before making a response.
Closing date for comments
The closing date for receipt of comments is Friday 9 May 2008.
As QAA is acting as secretariat to the CIDG, please send your comments on this draft guidance to Jayne Mitchell (j.mitchell@qaa.ac.uk) or Sarah Butler (s.butler@qaa.ac.uk).
