The Code of practice for the assurance of academic quality and standards in higher education (the Code of practice) provides guidance on maintaining quality and standards for universities and colleges subscribing to QAA. It is made up of 10 sections and was originally prepared by QAA between 1998 and 2001. Revisions of individual sections began in 2004.

Section 9: Work-based and placement learning
Following feedback and discussions with the higher and further education sectors, QAA has reworded the text in paragraphs 17 and 18 of this revised version of the Code of practice, Section 9: Work-based and placement learning - September 2007 to clarify the advice given on collaborative provision.
Revising the Code of practice
The sections above are the most recent versions, with links to previous editions. Audit and review teams will continue to make reference to the previous editions of section 5 and section 9 until 1 October 2008.
