QAA recognised as compliant with European standards and guidelines
QAA was reviewed earlier this year for the first time by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). The ENQA Board has this week confirmed that QAA is fully compliant in 14 of the 16 European standards, and substantially compliant in the remaining two.

QAA works closely with the Higher Education Funding Council for England, Universities UK, the GuildHE, the National Union of Students UK and the Higher Education
Academy to ensure universities and colleges in England maintain high levels of quality and academic standards.
Because of the range of higher education institutions, our work in England involves the largest number of review methods. Our work encompasses further education in higher education colleges, healthcare education as well as institutional-level reviews.

QAA Scotland works closely with the Scottish Executive and the Scottish Funding Council, as well as organisations such as Universities Scotland, and the National
Union of Students in Scotland, to develop and operate arrangements that reflect the distinctive needs of higher education in Scotland.
The work of QAA Scotland encompasses a broad range of issues within higher education in Scotland and much of our work is part of the quality enhancement framework. Our work supports and makes use of the various parts of the Academic Infrastructure while developing them specifically for the Scottish sector.

QAA has been working closely with organisations in Wales for many years. In 2001, we took over the reviewing of institutions in Wales from the Higher Education
Funding Council for Wales. Since then, QAA has been working closely with the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, National Union of Students Wales, and the
heads of higher education institutions in Wales to ensure that quality and academic standards are maintained throughout higher education in Wales.
We are committed to working in Wales and operate a Welsh Language Scheme.
