The Higher Education (HE) in Further Education Colleges (FEC) Liaison Group has been set up to provide a forum for the discussion of matters of interest to colleges, related organisations and QAA in relation to higher education in further education colleges. Terms of reference, minutes and agenda and links which may be useful to further education colleges offering HE provision are available.
In addition to the HE in FECs Liaison Group, QAA has set up a Policy Advisory Forum consisting of the FEC Liaison Group together with representatives from other organisations with an interest in FE and HE matters. Among its activities the Policy Advisory Forum receives report and comment from the Liaison Group. The Policy Advisory Forum provides an area for debate between representatives of Further Education Colleges and national bodies.

New Voices: Furthering Higher Education - second one day event, 24 January 2007
This one-day event gave the opportunity to present examples of current practice, and to learn from the practice of others. It builds on QAA's reviews in FECs, QAA's HE in FEC national conference in 2005, and the work of the Higher Education Academy.

The Higher Education in Further Education Colleges Liaison Group held a second national conference on 9 November 2005. With the theme of partnerships, the conference was an opportunity for representatives of further education colleges and higher education institutions to consider current and future opportunities and challenges for higher education delivered in further education colleges.

HigherEducationFurther - First National Conference
The HigherEducationFurther conference, held by QAA on Friday 21 November 2003, brought together representatives of further education colleges (FECs) and higher education institutions to examine the achievements of higher education delivered by FECs, consortia, specialist colleges and ‘mixed economy’ colleges.
The conference was attended by course leaders, quality assurance managers, heads of department, heads of school, senior managers and officers of national associations. It took place at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham and attracted 230 delegates. The conference also debated likely higher education futures.
Speakers included Penny Blackie from City College Manchester, Janice Shiner from DfES and Dr John Brennan from the Association of Colleges.
