QAA works closely with the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Universities UK, the GuildHE, the National Union of Students and the Higher Education Academy to ensure universities and colleges in England maintain high levels of quality and academic standards.
Because of the range of higher education institutions, our work in England involves the largest number of review methods. Our work encompasses institutional-level reviews and higher education in further education colleges.
Review methods
The review methods currently operating in England are:
- Access to Higher Education
- Collaborative provision audit
- Institutional audit
- Integrated quality and enhancement review
Academic credit
Academic credit is awarded to students who have shown that they have successfully completed a module, unit or qualification. Credit has been used by many universities and colleges in the UK for a number of years, allowing students to have their learning and credits recognised by different institutions in different parts of the UK.
QAA has published the Higher education credit framework for England and a guide to academic credit. More >>
