The House of Commons, The Terrace Marquee, The New Palace of Westminster
Wednesday 3 March 2010, 6-7.30pm
(Invitation only)
Each year, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) holds an annual reception to launch the QAA Annual review and to provide an opportunity for our various stakeholders to meet. This year the Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Minister of State for Higher Education and Intellectual Property, has kindly agreed to be our guest speaker.
The Annual review highlights some of our major achievements and the scope of our activities during 2008-09. It also sets out our plans for the future, including our objectives to become more public facing and to focus on putting students at the centre of our work. We are also strengthening our capacity for investigating complaints, and continue to collaborate with colleagues worldwide so that the UK’s outstanding higher education system is supported by a QAA that is itself at the forefront of international good practice.
The reception will be fairly informal in nature. Speeches will take around 20 minutes in total and will include a welcome introduction from our Chairman, Sir Rodney Brooke, and a closing session from our Chief Executive, Anthony McClaran. We are expecting between 120 and 150 guests to attend, comprising Vice-Chancellors, senior staff from key partners and higher education and regulatory bodies, Government ministers and MPs, key QAA staff, NUS representative bodies and journalists.
