Professor Philip Jones
Professor Philip Jones has been Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University since 2007, having previously held posts as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Sub-Warden at Durham University and as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sheffield. Professor Jones was responsible for designing a completely new framework of qualifications for the Law Society, work which led to his appointment as a member of the National Council for Vocational Qualifications Policy Committee and the Qualifications and Curriculum Qualifications Committee.
He was a member of the group that produced the design specification for Foundation Degrees and while at the University of Sheffield he chaired the White Rose Group of Pro Vice-Chancellors (Learning and Teaching). He was also chair of the Academic Development Committee of Yorkshire Universities and a member of South Yorkshire's Learning and Skills Council.
Professor Jones was appointed to the Higher Education Funding Council for England's Quality Assurance and Learning and Teaching Committee, where he was a member of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Advisory Panel and Assessment Panel. He is also a member of the Quality Assurance Framework Review Group.
