QAA publishes second edition of The framework for higher education qualifications in England Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ)
QAA has announced the publication of the second edition of the FHEQ. The FHEQ describes the achievement represented by higher education qualifications. The second edition has incorporated responses from a formal consultation which took place between April and June this year.

QAA announced today that it had appointed its first student as a full Board member. The successful candidate, Will Haywood, is Academic Affairs Executive at Sheffield Hallam University Union of Students. He will take up his position immediately.

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) celebrated its tenth anniversary by holding a reception at 30 St Mary Axe (the Gherkin), London. Guest of honour was Lord Dearing, whose report into the future of higher education, published in July 1997, largely gave QAA its agenda of work.

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has launched its annual review for 2005-06. It demonstrates the rich diversity of work carried out by QAA across the UK to ensure standards and quality are maintained and enhanced within the higher education sector. Chief Executive, Peter Williams, comments: ‘It is testament to the commitment of universities and colleges that most of what we have seen is of a high standard and quality.’

QAA reports positive outcomes from its review of research degree programmes
Research degree programmes are well managed, according to reports launched today by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) at the UK Council for Graduate Education (UKCGE) winter conference in York. The outcomes of the review of research degree programmes in which QAA surveyed 114 higher education institutions in England and Northern Ireland and 10 in Wales are published in two reports, one for England and Northern Ireland and one for Wales.

QAA strengthens links with Japan
The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation (NIAD-UE) of Japan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.  The ceremony was held at the annual general meeting of the Asia Pacific Quality Network in Kuala Lumpur.

UK higher education in China is good, says QAA
A report launched today by The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has found that very good working relations have been established between UK higher education institutions and their Chinese counterparts. Procedures and processes have been put in place so that students studying in China get a higher education experience that is broadly comparable to that of students studying in the UK.
