Types of review
A key part of QAA’s role is to review and report on how universities and colleges of higher education maintain academic standards and quality. We carry out reviews using a variety of methods depending on the country and type of institution. All current methods are listed below by country.
England
- Institutional audit is the review process for higher education institutions in England and Northern Ireland.
- Collaborative provision audit looks at how institutions with degree awarding powers maintain the standards of their awards delivered at other colleges or organisations.
- Integrated quality and enhancement review (IQER) is the review method for higher education delivered in further education colleges.
- Access to Higher Education is the method used to review Access validating agencies (AVAs) to award certificates and diplomas to students.
- General Osteopathic Council review
Wales/Cymru
- Institutional review / Adolygiad sefydliadol is the review process for higher education institutions in Wales.
- Developmental review in Wales / Adolygiad datblygiadol yng Nghymru is the method for higher education delivered in further education colleges.
