Our work in Wales

QAA has been working closely with organisations in Wales for many years. In 2001, we took over the reviewing of institutions in Wales from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. Since then, QAA has been working closely with the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, National Union of Students Wales, and the heads of higher education institutions in Wales to ensure that quality and academic standards are maintained throughout higher education in Wales.

We are committed to working in Wales and operate a Welsh Language Scheme.

The review methods we operate in Wales are:

Student membership of institutional review teams and QAA strategy on student engagement - English | Welsh/Cymraeg

‘Effective approaches to the management of academic standards and quality in Wales’, a conference report HTML | PDF

Collaborative provision in higher education in Wales - a conference report - HTML | PDF

QAA Advisory Committee for Wales

The role of the QAA Advisory Committee for Wales is to provide the QAA Board with advice on the development and provision of its services in Wales in line with its annual contract with Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and with its periodic contract with Universities UK with respect to higher education institutions in Wales. The QAA Advisory Committee for Wales also provides a means for liaising with Welsh Assembly departments and other bodies with a direct interest in quality and standards in higher education in Wales.
